Sonia, aka Yayo, is the owner and chief fitness instructor and spiritual and holistic coach at Life of a Pole Trick in Chicago, Illinois. As an aerial, dance, and spiritual coach, her passion and goal have always been to help individuals and communities as they grow within themselves, with one another, and with the world around them. Sonia is a professional pole dancer and aerial fitness instructor and is well-versed in meditation, yoga, reiki and breathing techniques for adults and kids.
Sonia wants to show that anyone, regardless of age, size, or fitness experience, can come to aerial and pole classes, and she hopes that it will have the same life-changing and positive experience it did for her. Sonia’s aerial and pole dance classes are built on a solid foundation of understanding the various physical and mental benefits of pole dancing and aerial arts, offering classes that are a safe and healthy space for students to increase their self-esteem and boost body confidence. Her instructions are informed by her training, with a strong emphasis on technique and transition. Sonia’s greatest joy is helping her students find what she calls “The Trick in the Trick”(TM).
Sonia is certified in aerial, pole dance, FabPole, and kids’ fitness. She is also the first person in Chicago to teach FabPole and has been teaching it since 2014. Sonia has also been judged for two competitions, including the 2016 North American Pole Dance Championship, where she won first place in the FabPole division. FabPole was included in the competition for the first time.
Sonia continues to train and coach her clients daily, providing a combination of steady, consistent efforts toward their goals with incremental progression. She supports all members to practice deep self-care in order to find inner peace and balance and return to wholeness in body, mind, and soul.
As a spiritual and holistic coach, she works with people who are eager and curious about tapping into the wisdom of their souls and are dedicated to developing spiritual and holistic practices to create the wonderful and positive experiences they envision for their life. Sonia offers all members a precise balance to refresh and restore the entire body and mind through specially designed classes, including yoga, meditation, mindfulness, ETF tapping, energy healing, and sound healing.
Sonia believes that healing is a gradual journey to infuse your life with health by timely connecting you with the inner recesses and wisdom of your being. In her opinion, balanced holistic and spiritual healing, which brings about vitality, starts with a deep understanding and appreciation of self.
Sonia motivates her members primarily through trust. This is because, without trust, there can be no transformation. It is crucial that members can feel they can be themselves in their coaching and training classes, and adjustments and changes are always made according to what a person needs at that moment.
Sonia’s super friendly, cordial, and supportive nature inspires all her students to be the best versions of themselves! Her mission is to offer inclusive and accessible classes, free from the typical pressures of a conventional gym setting with weight loss challenges. Sonia believes that by effectively tuning into each of these key areas of her members’ lives, they can experience and benefit from deep healing on several levels and transformational life changes to lead a healthy, loving, and rewarding life. The joy and happiness that she feels from helping others feeds her soul. She deeply loves what she does.
I believe in order to heal or discover your true self, you must connect with your inner self. You must look at the Physical, Mental and Emotional side of yourself to lead a healthy, loving and rewarding life. It’s a whole 360 process for self-discovery journey. Everyone’s body is different on how they learn, this is why I love to help students figure that out. Come see me and join the Life Of A Pole Trick™ family.
